Shaughnessy Herren is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate in the State of Texas, supervised by Leslie Larson, LPC-S. She enjoys working with adolescents and young adults, managing life transitions, and all those things encompass.
Shaughnessy believes that the client is the expert of their own life. She wants to assist the client in becoming mindful of their thought processes, as well as the interaction of these processes with behaviors. She integrates several modalities into her treatment process, including but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. Shaughnessy believes that the most important tool utilized in session is therapist-client relationship (rapport) and mutual authenticity.
Shaughnessy has experience in group, crisis, trauma, family, individual, faith-based, and career counseling. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University in Clinical Psychology and her master’s degree in Counseling from Texas A&M University.
Following school, she traveled with her veteran husband from Mississippi-Virginia-Tennessee-Korea-Texas. Each of these travel experiences has allowed her to experience diversity and bring a more holistic view to her therapy process.
Outside of therapy, she enjoys reading fiction novels, running, yoga, being the ultimate foodie with her husband (whether through cooking or trying new restaurants), nature, floating on the lake, kayaking, and hiking.
