Jessica Durham, LPC
My name is Jessica and I believe that at the root of every mental health concern is a need for connection; whether it’s a need in relation to yourself, to your body, to the present moment, or to those around us. Developing a deep sense of belonging is, in my professional opinion, the antidote to human suffering.
My mission as a therapist is to build a relationship with clients that will serve as the foundation for developing a stronger personal connection, that will ultimately translate into satisfying relationships in the workplace, at home, and in the community.
I operate with the philosophy that the body and the mind are so inextricably connected that we must consider them to be two sides of the same coin. I enjoy the practice of helping others find balance and regulation in their bodies, in their thoughts, and in their emotional state. I do this through mindfulness, meditation, and with the help of dialectical behavior therapy and cognitive therapy techniques. I encourage a holistic approach to wellness with emphasis on making empowered choices to live a better life.
I feel called everyday to teach the practice of radical acceptance and distress tolerance, to help others see their pain as a necessary part of the human experience, and to help adults discover that with the right tools they do not only have the capacity to withstand and overcome but are stronger for having endured.
I have a passion for providing quality care to those with limited access to care. I have worked solely with non-profit organizations, since graduating with my masters in clinical psychology. I have experience treating a wide range of mental illnesses including severe and persistent mental illness. I am excited to be a part of Insight Psychology practice as a telehealth provider working primarily with Medicaid recipients who may meet criteria for PTSD, ADHD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder or Major Depression and related disorders.
I am registered with the VA as a CPT provider and am a member of the American Counseling Association. I especially love helping parents be more connected to their children and helping those with attention deficits find their power.
Let’s get to feeling better, together.
