Janet Leese, LCSW

Janet Leese is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas and California. She attended the University of California, Davis where she received a B.A. in Psychology, a B.A. in Women’s Studies with an emphasis on Race and Class in the US, and a minor in Adult Development and Aging. Upon graduation, she oversaw two adult day care centers and ran support groups for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Janet then attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned a M.A. in Social Welfare with an emphasis on Gerontology.
She has experience in hospital discharge planning, community case management, as well as providing social work services for patients and their families in both in-home hospice settings as well as an in-patient hospice facility. She has worked with clients with Alzheimer’s Disease, dementia, stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, and more.
Janet spent 7 years as a stay-at-home mom where she experienced the joys and challenges of her own care-giving journey. While caring for her children and husband she gained invaluable experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, mood dysregulation, autoimmune disease, specialty diets, supplements, and management of doctors, therapists/therapies, and modalities for health and development.
Janet understands and believes in the importance of getting to the root cause of challenges whenever possible, whether they are physical or behavioral. She uses this understanding in her work with children and families, utilizing a cognitive behavioral therapy approach.
In her free time you can find Janet in yoga classes, watching her children play sports, going to movies with her husband, running, meditating, picking up books from the library, “chit chatting” with friends (as her kids like to call it), or sitting on her front porch after the kids go to bed. She has the cutest rescue dogs, Mia and Loki, whom offer endless cuddles and unconditional love.
