Therapy: The Whole Person
Conventional wisdom suggests that many physical problems have their roots in mental, emotional, and social aspects of our lives. When our psychological health is compromised, our physical well-being often declines—and the reverse is also true. Chronic physical conditions, in particular, can take a significant toll on mental health. Achieving and maintaining overall health, therefore, requires fostering a balance that supports both physical and mental well-being.
When individuals seek therapy, they are often already struggling—mentally, physically, or both. In such cases, finding balance can feel daunting. However, partnering with a compassionate and skilled professional can be the turning point that sets the path toward greater well-being.
My approach focuses on helping you achieve balance by recognizing and addressing the whole person. Mental and physical health are deeply intertwined and cannot be separated. This means that when you experience a mental health concern, it’s essential to examine all aspects of your life, including genetic predispositions, emotional well-being, home environment, readiness for change, physical activity levels, nutrition, sleep quality, environmental stressors, and your relationships and support system.
Once we identify the root causes of your challenges, we can begin the process of creating positive changes that enhance your life psychologically, physically, socially, and environmentally. My goal is to guide you toward balance and help you work through areas where you may feel stuck. While there are no guarantees, therapy often succeeds when it includes a strong therapeutic relationship, evidence-based interventions, and your genuine commitment to making meaningful changes.
To help you move forward, I take a solution-focused approach to therapy and utilize evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I believe in brief, goal-oriented treatment that directly addresses the issues you bring to therapy. Most clients complete treatment in 5 to 15 sessions, with a plan for maintaining progress once therapy concludes.
Areas of Focus:
Depression
Anxiety
Problems related to poor health choices (failure to relax, workaholism, poor nutrition, lack of exercise, sleep problems, self neglect)
Health conditions contributing to depression/anxiety
Low energy/lack of motivation
