Kristen Felter, LCSW
Kristen Felter is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with children, adolescents and families. She earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin in 2003 and, as many people do, fell in love with the Austin area and never left. Kristen believes in providing a strengths-based, solution-focused approach to the work she does with kids and families and believes kindness and compassion are key when working through life’s challenges. She has 15 years of experience working in a variety of settings in the mental health field including residential treatment, street outreach with at-risk and homeless youth, outpatient therapy with children and families, foster and adoption home studies, and inpatient mental health. For the past 11 years, she has been working in the school system, providing counseling services to children in preschool through high school and working as an advocate for their parents as obstacles arise. Kristen works with kids and teens ages 3-19 experiencing emotional issues, behavioral problems, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, school problems, peer relationship issues, teen dating issues, stress management, life adjustments and family conflict. She also provides Parent Coaching through all stages and phases of family life. Kristen incorporates traditional talk therapy along with play therapy and mindfulness to create a tailored approach specific to the client’s goals and needs.
